Everybody has his own happy standard in his heart. Only do you reach the standard, you’re swimming in the ocean called happiness. Compared with others maybe you have a different standard of happiness. Conversely, your happiness also may not accord with others’ demands. If I have to define the happiness. I think there’re two main points—stay with people who you love and do your favorite work. That’s my happiness. The Pursuit of HappIness tells us a very simple and common story, but the details touched my heart deeply. Chris Gardner owes a kind of happiness, too. When he was very young, his parents divorced. He didn’t meet his own father once until he was 28 years old. Having undergone the grieved experience, he wants to do his best to raise his son happily under his protection. Chris Gardner is a smart salesman who works hard, but he still couldn’t let his family have a joyful life. Unfortunately .his wife finally choose to leave him for the pressure of making a living and go abroad have a better life. Then he becomes a single parent who doesn’t even have a formal job. What’s worse, he has only 21 dollars on his account and without income to pay the rent for the house, so he has to move and start to lead a vagrant life with his son. Later, he catches an opportunity to practise in a famous stock investment, yet, it can’t get one cent within six months and he has only ten percent to be regular member of the company. However, it’s his last chance to get the happy life, he knows that. If he succeeds, it means that he could make good money in his profession, but he doesn’t get into it solely for the money. As far as I’m concerned, he does it because he is skilled in the same subject and feels that it’s the most natural choice for him as he really enjoys it. Chris has nothing even the salary and a house to live except his sensible son, Christopher and Christopher’s unconditional love and trust. They have no choice but to live in the collecting post, the subway, the public shower room and even anyplace where they could merely stretch out. What’s more, they’re too poor to have meals, for this reason they have to line up in order to get the relief of food. Life is so difficult for his son and his own faith—Only do you have worked enough today, the happiness will arrive tomorrow. At the end of the movie, he signs a contract with the company at last. To let me be gratified is that Chris becomes a formal economic expert eventually. On one hand, he has to attempt to pass the unpaid six months practice course and sell the medical apparatus and instruments. On the other hand, he wants to protect his son’s immature heart. At that moment, he is excited and even doesn’t know how to express his inner feelings on hearing the news, so he runs fast to appear in front of his son and hugs him tightly with tears of joy and happiness in his eyes. Though get the job is a beginning for him, it’s really a transition of his life. As he said, if you have a dream, you got to protect it to his son at the basketball court, I decided to regard this sentence as my motto for the sake of reminding me of not giving my hope like Chris did. This sentence is really worthy of being remembered by heart. At the time, Chris may not realize his own dream, but he still encourages his son to firmly believe his dream will come true one day if he protects it. His son is his greatest motive power and his belief gives him the hope to the future. What’s the happiness? In essential, it’s simply a kind of psychological response that is full of strong mental power after you realize your dream. Though the expression in Chris Gardner’s eyes, I understand that the dream is wonderful and great, not an intimate knowledge of the originate of happiness. When, one night exactly it’s the most important day for Americans, Christmas Day, Chris and his son have to sleep in subway bathroom. Chris held up the door with his one foot, hugging his child tightly with his sobs, the constant voice of kicking the door by an impatient person, together with the movie’s background music. I couldn’t help holding back my feelings, and emotion any more as I watched the scene and felt the atmosphere. This is the first time I wept for the movie. The second time is when the broker of security said, tomorrow is your first day, as a broker. At that exciting moment, his dream comes true from his double efforts. What’s most impressive detail to me is that Chris didn’t say one dirty word like damn, shit or fuck when he has enough reasons to say to vent his pressure and sufferings from my personal view. Oppositely, he is always calm and gentle. There’s no doubt that he is a great father and he also sets an excellent example to his son to tell him how to handle life and confront the difficulties. From the movie, I learnt lots of truths, like life is full of tears and laughter. All of us have our own dream, while the capable people will turn their dreams into reality. Obstruction as you’ll have during the process; you should trust that you have achieved your goal in the present society that is unfair sometimes. It’s so difficult to get happiness that we should learn how to cherish it. In fact, most people have been surrounded by the happiness, such as have a good meal, stay with our families, and however, we just don’t find it.
