The Services Research Laboratory within HP Labs, Palo Alto, is developing the next generation of systems, solutions and analytical technologies to support emerging services for bringing highly personalized experiences to consumers and unprecedented operational efficiencies to businesses. We take interdisciplinary approaches in computer science, machine learning/data mining, economics, statistics, marketing science, and industrial engineering/operations research. We are currently seeking researchers to work on exciting problems in the areas of service operations, service personalization, and service delivery. Some of the areas of interest to our lab include:
- Marketing analytics for customer response, churn and retention
- Customer analytics, recommendation systems, and personalization
- Advanced analytics in auction design for strategic sourcing contracts and RFQ process design
- Design and pricing of warranties and post-sales services
- Models for strategic, tactical and operational workforce planning in technology-intensive services
- Using social networking and data mining techniques to harvest enterprise information useful in service portfolio management
- Models for service and customer on-boarding for new services
- Platforms to support emerging data-intensive services in healthcare, transportation, and financial industries
Our lab has ambitious, cross-disciplinary research projects, which aim to demonstrate our research and technology advancements quantitatively on prototype systems and through pilots with customers and HP's own global organizations. Researchers at HP Labs publish in major conferences and journals, work closely with customers and HP business units, collaborate with universities and researchers at other companies, and participate on program committees for many conferences.
